Polaris Alpha Raises $90,000
at 10th Annual TAPS Golf Outing

Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD September 15, 2017 — Polaris Alpha announced today that it raised $90,000 at its recent Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) Golf Outing, held on September 14, at Ruggles Golf Course, Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG), MD. The 10th annual event has now raised more than $610,000 since its inception.

This special event is one of TAPS’ largest fundraising activities for the families of America’s fallen soldiers. Polaris Alpha collected gift baskets, gift cards, and merchandise donations from local business for the raffle prizes, and General Dynamics Mission Systems sponsored a professional golfer who raised over $1,800 for the cause by challenging golfers at a hole.

“We are extremely proud and humbled by the tremendous support we received at this year’s event,” said Peter Cannito, CEO, Polaris Alpha. “This program continues to make an enormous difference in the families of those fallen heroes, and it is so heartwarming to see the commitment every year from the APG community to this important effort.”

TAPS is a 24/7 tragedy assistance resource for anyone who has suffered the loss of a military loved one. Since its start in 1994, TAPS has provided immediate and long-term emotional help, grief and trauma resources, and connections to community-based care, including mentoring programs and Good Grief camp, to more than 70,000 people grieving the death of a service member.

TAPS is a private 501(c)3 tax-exempt charitable corporation, and contributions to the golf event are partially tax deductible.
