Topic Builder—an enterprise search, discovery, and analytics application—reduces the time spent on research by automatically monitoring all connected data sources for information relevant to a user’s mission and presenting that information in an easily digestible format. Topic Builder leverages intelligent navigation that sorts articles by keywords, taxonomic synonyms, geographic names, areas of interest, time constraints, and entity facets.

Topic Builder allows users to match unstructured data to different topics as well as create their own “topics” by characterizing information of interest. Data is processed to extract textual contents, index them, and enrich them with metadata. Topics can then be shared among users via subscription, improving collaboration and reducing ramp-up time for new users. Topic Builder automatically highlights pertinent search terms, allowing for quickly uncovering the people, locations, organizations, and dates referenced within articles.

Users can upload a myriad of data types.

Some sources can be easily configured using the Content Acquisition system; other files can be added manually via drag-and-drop. Topic Builder is also designed to work seamlessly with other products, including CIDNE and INDURE, allowing users to leverage information in those databases, as well.

The platform associates a primary location with each article using natural language processing techniques. This enables search results to be projected on a map to expose any meaningful spatial patterns. Users can also view report titles by clicking the associated icons on the interactive map display.
